How do I add sales tax to a price?
Multiply the pre-tax price by the tax rate and add the result to the price. For example, 8% sales tax on $100 is $8, so the total is $108.
How do I remove sales tax from a total?
Divide the total by (1 + tax rate) to find the pre-tax price. A $108 total with 8% tax gives a $100 pre-tax price and $8 of tax. The calculator does this for you.
