How do I add VAT to a price?
Multiply the net price by the VAT rate and add the result to the price. For example, 20% VAT on £100 is £20, so the gross total is £120.
How do I remove VAT from a gross price?
Divide the gross total by (1 + VAT rate) to find the net price. A £120 total with 20% VAT gives a £100 net price and £20 of VAT. The calculator does this for you.
Which VAT rate should I use?
The standard UK rate is 20%, with a reduced rate of 5% and a zero rate for some goods and services. Check which rate applies to what you sell on the official GOV.UK guidance.
